New BitNinja Agent Release 3.17.1: Reliable Service Management and WAF Configuration Fallback

BitNinja Agent 3.17.1 improves service and package management, strengthens module initialization, and enhances operational continuity for WAF Pro and Malware Detection. The release is available through the Frequent and Beta update channels.

Policier and Hyper Monitor

The monolithic Policier utility has been replaced with dedicated PolicierManager and HyperMonitorManager classes. Package installation and updates now use the system package manager, such as apt or yum, while service control follows the standard systemctl method.

This approach improves reliability and addresses potential issues involving defunct processes. BitNinja Policier is updated to version 1.0.0, and BitNinja Hyper Monitor is updated to version 1.0.1.

Malware Detection

Malware Detection now improves the stability of database operations. It also automatically detects and clears multiple injections without requiring manual re-scans.

This reduces the need for manual intervention when the system identifies multiple injections during malware detection.

WAF Pro

WAF Pro now correctly checks whether response compression is enabled. When the API is unavailable, the module attempts to load the last successfully retrieved configuration from disk instead of immediately using a generic default configuration.

Pattern rules, their metadata, and their specific order are now persisted to disk. This allows WAF Pro to continue operating with the intended rules during an API outage.

IP Filter

IP Filter now implements a time-to-live mechanism for challenge-listed IP addresses when using NFTables mode.

PortHoneypot

PortHoneypot now checks that the required IP sets are ready before it initializes listeners. The check complements the existing readiness check for redirection chains.

By confirming that all required dependencies are prepared first, the module can avoid potential startup issues.

CaptchaHttp

The CAPTCHA page now includes explicit instructions for AI agents.
